Metal Panel Gauge
The term “gauge” when applied to metal products—metal roofing, siding, and so on—refers to the thickness of the material being used. The higher the number, the thinner the material will be.
There are a couple big things to consider when it comes to picking the right panel:

Deciding What Kind of Panels to Choose
Weather resistance, cost, the length of the project, and a number of other factors can influence what panels you might be looking for.
If you need advice, or just someone to spitball ideas with, contact Champion Metal Supply and we’ll be more than happy to kick the can around with you for a while until you feel comfortable, and hopefully well-supplied, heading into your next project.
Metal Roofing Cost
It’s something that’s every contractor’s favorite phrase to hear, and there are so many different ways to say it: cost difference, cost survey, cost estimate, cost factors, cost per measure, cost saving.
Wait a minute, that last one actually sounds pretty good.
And that’s what Champion Metal is here for. We know that costs can become a roadblock to your building objectives, but remember—good craftsmanship doesn’t cut corners.
We’re here to help make sure you get what you need, when you need it, at the best possible price and quality, and if you come see us, that’s exactly what we’re going to do.
Whatever you’re building most likely needs to stand, if not the test of time, then at least the test of a little Midwest weather.
So when picking your metal gauge, remember the local climate specific to the area you’re building in. If you’re looking to keep a place insulated and secure, go with a thicker gauge, around 26 or 24. But if you’re instead looking for a little bit lighter material, with slightly more flexibility and less necessary to support it, you’ll want to spring for a lighter gauge, like a 29 instead.
Two of Champion Metal’s most popular materials are our R-Panels that come in 26 0r 29 gauge, and our Standing Seam that comes in a 26 gauge. Call today if you think one might be right for you.
